As society crumbles, we meet Anna, a courageous 13-year-old girl living in the forests of Sicily with her five-year-old brother, Aster. For five years, Anna has taken on the formidable role of caretaker, scavenging for food to keep them alive while creating a protective sanctuary reminiscent of a childhood safe haven. Surrounded by barbed wire, she warns Aster of the “demons” beyond their territory, instilling a sense of fear to keep him from venturing outside.
