The first approach involved isolating the AI from the internet and other devices to significantly limit its interaction with the external world. This isolation could potentially decrease its ability to respond to tasks for which it was designed.
The second approach the team tested was the development of a theoretical containment algorithm. This algorithm was intended to ensure a superintelligent AI could not harm humans under any circumstances. The method included simulating the AI's behavior and halting it if deemed harmful.
