Once the dough has risen, preheat your oven to 200°C (approximately 390°F). Place the dough in the oven for about ten minutes. This step is crucial as it will help create a solid base for your pizza topping, and it can also be frozen for up to three months if you want to save some for later.
Topping Your Pizza
While the base is baking, prepare the sauce and toppings. For the sauce, mix:
½ cup of plain tomato sauce
A pinch of salt
A pinch of sugar
1 teaspoon dried oregano
½ tablespoon olive oil
Stir the ingredients together, then spread it over your pre-baked pizza base. Next, sprinkle a generous amount of grated mozzarella cheese over the sauce. Feel free to get creative with toppings—one great choice is sliced cooked and smoked calabrese sausage.
