Fëanor's grief was profound; he lamented not just the loss of his father but also the theft of his masterpieces, the Silmarils. His anguish quickly morphed into anger, and he accused the Valar, the guardians of Valinor, of gross incompetence. He felt that the immortal lands, which should have been a paradise for elves, had been violated without consequence. This led Fëanor to voice his defiance, declaring that if he could not defeat Morgoth, he would at least retaliate ferociously, rallying many of the Noldor elves to his cause.
