The Megalodon was a true giant of the seas, capable of reaching up to 20 meters in length and weighing approximately 60,000 kg—comparable to a six-story building. To put this in perspective, the largest great white shark recorded was about 6 meters long and weighed around 3,200 kg. The colossal size of the Megalodon surpassed any modern shark, posing a chilling image of its era.
Its teeth were notably large, reaching up to 18 cm and with an estimated total of 276 teeth, the power behind its bite was formidable. The Megalodon boasted a bite force potentially exceeding 18 tons, mirroring that of no living shark today. This apex predator lived from 23 to about 3.6 million years ago, reigning supreme in the oceans until its seemingly abrupt disappearance.
