Kentucky, known for their own impressive roster, appeared off-kilter as they faced a relentless Old Miss offense. With each successful possession for the Rebels, Kentucky's defense showed signs of deterioration. Despite having moments of individual brilliance, such as Williams getting into the paint and scoring, the Wildcats were unable to string together consistent defensive stops.
Old Miss applied considerable ball pressure, forcing Kentucky into difficult shots and preventing them from finding a rhythm. The Wildcats' trouble on defense was compounded by careless turnovers that led to easy scoring opportunities for Old Miss.
