Given this backdrop, Alvarenga discusses the implications of this policy change for Brazil. Currently, Brazilian legislation does not provide clear regulations concerning the use of AI in military applications. The only pending bill, PL 2338/2020, addresses certain aspects of AI usage, primarily prohibiting fully autonomous weapons that operate without human oversight during attacks. Nevertheless, it does not explicitly ban the use of AI in weaponry as long as human control is maintained.
