According to research from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, the Incas' choice of construction site was anything but random. Rather, they mastered the art of reading the land, turning geological faults, once seen as risky, into allies. The fractured soil facilitated the extraction of stone blocks, as if the mountain itself delivered building materials for construction. Without this advantageous feature, erecting over 200 structures at such heights would have been impossible.
