Let the mixture simmer until it thickens into a syrupy consistency, stirring occasionally. When done, allow it to cool, and your berry topping will be ready!
The Final Touch
After the ice cream base has been properly churned, it’s time for its final freeze. Place the creamy mixture into a lidded container, and let it firm up in the freezer for about 30 minutes to an hour.
Once ready, scoop out some of your homemade vanilla ice cream, and add a generous scoop of your berry compote on top. If you like, sprinkle some crushed cashews for an appealing crunch and presentation.
