A significant catalyst for this wave of financial setbacks appears to be the introduction of steep tariffs, dubbed the "tarifaço." The consequences of such economic policies have rippled through the core of the tech industry. Just recently, on a single day, the five largest technology firms in the U.S.—Apple, Amazon, Meta, Microsoft, and Alphabet (the parent company of Google)—consolidated losses that amounted to $772 billion in market value. When Nvidia and Tesla are included in this tally, total losses soar to around $1 trillion, or roughly R$600 billion.
