Data centers, which house the servers responsible for processing these AI interactions, are responsible for a staggering 2% of global electricity consumption. As reported by the International Energy Agency, this figure is projected to climb to 150 TWh in the near future, which significantly overshoots the 460 TWh consumed in 2022. Consequently, even simple expressions of kindness might lead to a growing carbon footprint, challenging the sustainability of using such technology for even the most mundane interactions.
