While the Eastern and Western Fronts see ferocious activity, other key theaters of the war continue to evolve. In the Middle East, the Arab revolt is gaining momentum. On June 8th, Sharif Hussein proclaimed the Arab Revolt in Mecca, beginning what would become a pivotal uprising against Ottoman rule. Although initial efforts faced significant setbacks—only a fraction of rebels wielded weapons—British intelligence, including T.E. Lawrence, facilitated landings in Jeddah and supported Arab forces.
