Part 8/15:
Simultaneously, in the Ottoman-held territories of the Middle East, British forces, under General Edmund Allenby, made rapid advances. They crossed the Upper Jordan River, met Arab Revolt forces near Daraa, and, after a relentless 12-day march covering over 600 kilometers, entered Damascus on October 1st. This marked the end of centuries of Ottoman rule in the city, effectively collapsing the Ottoman front in the region. Lawrence of Arabia’s arrival symbolized the Arab Revolt’s success, opening a new chapter in regional resistance and independence movements.
