Part 2/15:
By midday, reports indicated that the 15th Panzer Division had advanced dangerously close west of Gasr el Arid. The British, realizing the urgency, positioned their Crusader tanks in hull-down positions among nearby wadis around 1330 hours, just as the Germans reached the area. The British artillery responded with initial success, hitting German armoured cars and supply transports, catching the Germans off guard. German reports acknowledged the effectiveness of British artillery, which briefly disrupted their plans.
