Tesla’s journey with robotics has shifted drastically from the initial concept presented in 2021, where a yet-to-be-developed robot was revealed under the guise of a performer in a costume. With substantial progress made since then, the 2022 AI Day presented a glimpse of what was to come: a prototype of Optimus that could walk unassisted for the first time, demonstrating movements such as waving and executing simple tasks.
Notably, the recent iteration runs on a Tesla computer chip and features advanced technology capabilities such as Wi-Fi, showing that the team is applying real-world applications correlating advancements in AI and robotics to create a capable humanoid.
