Part 4/9:

As individuals, we carry a multitude of beliefs, concepts, and ideas that often weigh heavily on our lives. These constructs serve as both guiding and limiting forces. We gather information through perception, cognition, and conceptualization, with each contributing to our unique understanding of the world around us.

However, the ambivalence towards knowledge often arises. Every time we form a belief, we also run the risk of hardening it into an inflexible idea that challenges our openness. The engagement in arguments surrounding such beliefs leads to psychological internal conflict. Understanding how we acquire and cling to concepts can be fundamental in uncovering why we feel so challenged when encountering differing opinions.
