As the practice begins, participants are guided into a comfortable seated position. Andrew encourages them to close their eyes, turning their focus inward. Deep inhalations and sighs help to settle the body and soothe the nervous system, anchoring the practice in the present moment.
Andrew prompts participants to set an intention for their practice. One proposed intention is to foster self-love, empower oneself, and ultimately practice for the benefit of all beings.
Warming Up: Surya Namaskar
The class transitions into a series of Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutations) to warm up the body. Andrew instructs participants to engage in six rounds, introducing fluid movement and breath coordination. Each round builds on the last, enhancing strength, flexibility, and the flow of energy.
