On February 21, 2025, Bybit announced a major security breach during a routine transfer from a cold wallet to a warm wallet. It was discovered that an attacker had manipulated the process, gaining unauthorized access to the cold wallet. This breach allowed for the unauthorized transfer of over 400,000 Ethereum tokens, valued at an astonishing $1.5 billion, directly to an unidentified address.
