Gharials primarily inhabit regions with fast-flowing waters, such as the Ganges River and the Indus River. Their specialized physical adaptations make them expert fishers, although they are often associated with scavenging for floating corpses found in their riverine habitats.
Despite their formidable presence, gharials are known for their gentle nature; they do not pose a threat to humans. This characteristic sets them apart from many other crocodilian species, making them less fearful and more intriguing to observe in their natural environments.
