The saga didn’t end with Teflon and C8, as they belong to a broader class of chemicals known as PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), often dubbed “forever chemicals.” The PFOA and PFOS compounds created grave environmental concerns due to their accumulation and persistence. Research revealed that PFAS had permeated ecosystems across the globe, contaminating water supplies and being detected in a diverse range of wildlife and human populations.
