Relative Scales
Mellow D introduces the concept of relative scales—a significant tool for producers to understand. A relative major scale shares the same notes as its minor counterpart but differs in formula. For instance, the C Major scale and A Minor scale use the same notes but provide distinct sound experiences.
To find a relative scale:
- From the major scale, to find its relative minor, go down three semitones. 
- From the minor scale, to find its relative major, go up three semitones. 
This knowledge helps in creating complementary melodies or chord progressions.
