The Role of Resonance
As the primary coil emits electromagnetic waves at resonant frequencies, they induce further energy in the secondary coil. The shape of the secondary coil, often toroidal, helps to accumulate charge while preventing the loss of energy through the corona effect—where excessive voltage causes electrical charges to discharge into the environment.
