Food poisoning, characterized by nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, is interpreted through a GNM lens as a biological response to emotional turmoil surrounding food. The symptoms arising from food poisoning could symbolize an “indigestible morsel” in a metaphorical sense—an experience or emotion that is hard to accept or process.
For instance, GNM highlights that conflicts rooted in anger or relationship difficulties can trigger the same types of physiological reactions as those caused by contaminated food. When an individual feels emotionally hurt and cannot digest that emotional experience, it can lead to similar physical symptoms.
