Enlisted at Cannon Air Force Base, they rapidly ascended in rank, transitioning from handling navigation electronics to more advanced avionics for the F-111 aircraft. Their unique skills were recognized multiple times, and rather than being confined to extensive schooling, the upper chain of command often sought their expertise to address practical issues on the ground.
