Part 3/7:
The Military Influence
As he moved through different states, Edgar's life led to an environment soaked in military culture. Settling in San Antonio, Texas, Edgar was surrounded by a community heavily intertwined with the military, mainly due to the numerous bases in the area including Fort Sam Houston and Lackland Air Force Base. The pervasive military atmosphere influenced Edgar’s formative years, cultivating a sense of duty and interest in intelligence.
This environment would eventually guide him toward a military career, but not before facing the uncertainties of the draft during the Vietnam era. After navigating numerous deferments, Edgar found himself recruited into the Air Force, where he would hone skills that would later play a significant role in his life.
