Upon receiving the treated and untreated nickel meshes, Grignia immediately recognized the high-quality production work completed by Thomas. The analysis began with an SEM image display that highlighted the basic components of the untreated mesh, predominantly nickel, with traces of carbon and oxygen believed to originate from manufacturing oils or environmental absorption.
Microscopic Examination
Grignia zoomed into the meshes using secondary electron imaging. The untreated mesh appeared relatively pure, minus the aforementioned contamination. The treated mesh, on the other hand, exhibited notable differences under the microscope. The optical images revealed a darker hue, potentially due to oil reflection or variations in material specularity.
