Transitioning to the magnetron transformer section, Hank elaborated on the ganged switch setup allowing for configurations with microwave transformers. Recognizing the limitations of initial transformer setups, he cleverly placed two transformers in series to achieve higher voltages while keeping amperage sufficient for the operation of the plasma system. Hank highlighted that his series configuration generates about 1700 volts, which is adequate for experimentation.
Cooling and Safety Measures
The design utilizes cooling mechanisms to mitigate heat buildup—a common issue with transformers in operation for extended periods. Hank originally used noisy old microwave fans, which have since been replaced with quieter alternatives.
