Interestingly, she was on a ferry en route to the Statue of Liberty when the second plane hit, the chaos of the day thick with confusion. Many on the ferry, including Carmen, did not realize the gravity of the initial impact. They perceived it merely as a small plane crash, not comprehending the catastrophic events unfolding.
