On a seemingly ordinary Saturday morning, between 9 and 10 o'clock, the tranquility of the Empire State Building was shattered. A Mitchell Bomber, taking off from Bedford, Massachusetts, was on a flight path that quickly went awry. The pilot had received instructions to land at LaGuardia Airport due to fog but ignored the warnings, opting instead to navigate towards Newark. In doing so, he inadvertently veered directly into the fog, ultimately leading him right into one of New York City’s most recognizable landmarks.
