Fueled by a collective sense of duty and concern for their lives and the destination they were ultimately heading towards—likely Washington, D.C.—they began to forge a plan. Todd Beamer famously uttered the words, “Let’s roll,” signaling their readiness to combat their captors.
In the back of the aircraft, the atmosphere turned from fear to determination. Men and women—including those with physical prowess like Jeremy Glick, a judoka, and CeCe Lyles, a former police officer—resolved to take action. They knew they had to confront the terrorists and prevent further devastation.
