According to John Dupree, a correspondent stationed in Los Angeles, three of the hijacked planes were originally destined for Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Specifically, these flights included American Flight 11, which was carrying 92 people; American Flight 77, with 64 passengers; and United Flight 175, which had 65 individuals onboard. The learning that these specific flights were bound for such a significant hub sparked serious concerns within the community and among officials.
