Brad Smith shared his experience of living with ALS, a neurodegenerative disease that affects the nerve cells controlling voluntary muscles. For the past six years, Brad has been unable to communicate effectively, having to rely on an eye-tracking system that, while functional, is laden with limitations. He expressed the frustrations of attempting to accomplish simple tasks like scrolling and clicking, all while noting how exhausting it can be to maintain focus on a screen just to interact.
