By 2023, many promising drill rappers, who had signed record deals, were either incarcerated or buried, emphasizing the tragic cost of their chosen paths. Young talent often succumbed to the very lifestyle they rapped about, leaving behind a creation that had, instead of offering an escape, turned into a death trap for many.
