In a set of experiments, unmagnetized steel balls and magnets were placed in proximity to observe their interactions. When a magnetic ball is positioned near a magnet, it tends to roll toward the center of the magnetic field. This behavior illustrates the attraction between the magnet and the magnetic ball. However, when this magnetic ball is lifted, it rolls towards the edge of the magnet instead.

Conversely, an unmagnetized steel ball shows a tendency to gravitate towards the edge of the magnet. Although it can momentarily sit at the center of the magnet, this position is unstable, leading the steel ball to move towards the edge once lifted.
