Interestingly, tiny unmagnetized screws exhibited a unique behavior by standing at an angle when positioned near the center of the magnet. They also flattened out as they approached the edge, indicating a clear relationship between distance from the magnet's center and their angle of stability.
Balancing Acts Between Magnets and Screws
The observations grew even more complex when the behaviors of tiny magnets were considered alongside tiny screws. A tiny magnet tended to balance at an angle towards the center when positioned near the edge of a larger magnet. However, when it was closer to the center, the tiny magnet flattened out. Meanwhile, the tiny screw balanced at an angle away from the center when near the center of the larger magnet.
