Restoring a Sewing Machine: A Personal Journey

In a recent personal project, the speaker undertook the task of restoring a sewing machine that he had previously taken apart for a thorough cleaning. After considerable effort, it was restored to perfect working condition. However, the speaker expressed a desire to change the case that was originally plastic to a wooden design. He had a wooden box ready for it, pondering why manufacturers chose plastic over wood, which he deemed a better fit for the mechanical structure of the machine.

The speaker also shared his experience with rust removal on the machine and noted that the bearings and surfaces were miraculously in good condition despite the rust, attributing this to his diligent cleaning efforts with cloths and sandpaper.
