Part 4/8:
Moving beyond the gun director, the collector examines a large marine or antiaircraft cannon, roughly 20 inches in size, believed to be from a superstore sale in California. This piece has seen significant exposure to the elements, evident from the rust pits and pitting along the barrel, possibly submerged in water or exposed to oceanic conditions for around ten years. The dealer had acquired it from a source with historical links to Pearl Harbor, adding another layer of intrigue to its provenance.
The collector notes the challenge faced in preservation but appreciates the historical weight and mystery that such weathered relics carry. The plan is to eventually clean or preserve the piece further, but for now, it remains a testament to the passage of time.
