Part 1/6:
Exploring a Vintage Signal Monitoring and Transmission System
Introduction to the System
Today, we delve into a fascinating piece of vintage RF (radio frequency) monitoring and transmission equipment, originally built for high-frequency signal analysis. The system includes a panoramic spectrum analyzer with audio output capabilities, allowing the user to listen to signals across a broad frequency range. This equipment was acquired in 1997 from the University of British Columbia and has seen various applications, including monitoring solar flux indices, cellphone signals, and other high-frequency signals extending up to 44 GHz.
