Timing and Magnetic Fall Rates
In examining how these magnets fall through copper tubes, the inventor reports that larger magnets (diameter 0.625 inches, length 0.5 inches) take about 40 seconds to descend, whereas glued pairs of similar magnets take around 50 seconds with the same poles facing. Interestingly, magnets glued with opposite poles fall faster—about 28.7 seconds—despite having double the weight, highlighting complex interactions between magnetic properties and electromagnetic damping.
