In a more terrestrial and military-related story, recent reports reveal that the U.S. government is conducting electromagnetic warfare tests in the wilderness of Washington State. The Olympic Peninsula’s forests are now the site of extensive wargames involving high-powered electromagnetic transmitters.
At least 15 locations in Olympic National Forest host towers capable of unleashing radiofrequency radiation with a calculated effective power of up to 5 million watts. These towers can send multiple beams simultaneously, ranging in frequencies from 2 to 18 gigahertz. The setup includes mobile truck-mounted antennas that can move between sites, and additional equipment in nearby forests like Vulcan Nogg and Colville National Forest, each capable of emitting 100,000-watt signals.
