Orlando describes a night when, after a couple of days of drinking with a friend (a wrestling champion from Michigan, who was in the Navy and heading to San Diego), he was caught in a messy affair with a woman living nearby. Things took a turn when her husband found out, leading to a confrontation, her attempted suicide by wrist-cutting, and ultimately Orlando fleeing the scene with the woman.
With no luggage, Orlando grabbed a few clothes in garbage bags and jumped into a friend's 1960s Barracuda, heading toward San Diego. The journey was filled with humorous and harrowing moments: crossing through states like Wisconsin, Wyoming, Utah, and Nevada, witnessing thunderstorms over the Rockies, and navigating mechanical and weather challenges.
