They begin disassembling it to analyze its components—d-size batteries, diodes, capacitors, resistors, a transformer, and a high-voltage capacitor. This teardown reveals that the zapper stores and releases significant electrical energy, capable of producing sparks with considerable voltage.
Bob demonstrates this by using a screwdriver to touch the capacitor, showing the powerful spark it can generate—even with a single battery of just 1.5 volts. The spark is big enough to be visually striking and indicates a substantial potential to be harnessed for other electrical projects.
