Part 7/12:
Leaving Riverview, the speaker moved to Hillside—part of the preparation phase for reintegration into society—where they engaged in independent living tasks like cooking and laundry. Their rebellious spirit shone through when they jokingly started a tractor protest to "bulldoze" the school and pool, revealing a mischievous and defiant streak.
Later, they transitioned to life in downtown Vancouver, living on Skid Row at 5 West Hastings Street in the Drexel Rooms. Here, they reconnected with their love of machinery and firearms, purchasing vintage rifles like the Lee-Enfield, and accumulating a substantial gun collection. This phase marked a shift from institutional confinement to a more defiant, self-made existence.
