Thanks to a friend in China, I acquired custom-made belts for the Worthington drive, which is a thoughtful gesture that preserves the integrity of this vintage system. Future plans include maintaining it as is—avoiding unnecessary motor replacements—and instead updating the drive with a modern motor.
Modernizing with a New Motor
I’ve decided that instead of messing with the original motor—which might be problematic—I will install a simple, modern, single-phase motor. The plan is to use a 2-horsepower, 110-115V motor that can be easily tapped into the existing system. This approach ensures ease of maintenance, safety, and reliability without damaging the machine's vintage components.
