Flat Earth proponents often argue that water and land are "flat" and that traditional surveying methods are flawed. However, the authoritative literature used by surveyors makes it clear that Earth's curvature is an explicit factor in measurements. The phrase "Earth is curved" appears multiple times throughout "Surveying for Engineers", and nowhere in the text do the authors claim Earth is flat.
Furthermore, the corrections for curvature in surveying software and national maps are well-documented and mathematically consistent. If the Earth were flat, these extensive correction procedures would be unnecessary; measurements would not need to be adjusted for curvature, and the calculations would diverge considerably from observed data.
