Underwater footage naturally exhibits a color cast—most notably a blueshift—because water filters out red wavelengths of light. In the EVA (extravehicular activity) footage, red accents on suits appear vibrant and naturally colored, even after employing white balance corrections, indicating they are not underwater.
Furthermore, shadows in space remain parallel and consistent across the entire scene, supporting the idea that the light source is far away (the Sun), rather than being artificially created or diffused underwater.
