One of the most compelling technical questions concerns the apparent seamlessness of the conversation: If signals travel at the speed of light, there should be a noticeable delay of about 1.5 seconds each way between Earth and the Moon. The Reality:
If you examine the original recordings of the Nixon-Apollo 11 phone call, there's actually about a six-second delay from when Nixon finishes speaking to when Armstrong responds. The apparent quickness in some parts is due to editing or the way audio is presented in documentaries.
