The Role of Harnesses and Microgravity
A common misconception is that wires or harnesses are necessary to simulate floating or performing stunts in space footage. However, actual space missions involve microgravity, allowing astronauts to float freely without support. In onboard videos and photos, astronauts often appear weightless, and equipment is usually tethered comfortably without visible support harnesses.
In the clip under scrutiny, the presence of tiny wire harnesses on chains and necklaces, which conspiracy theorists have pointed to as evidence of rigging, is explained as standard safety features or part of the costume design during filming. Additionally, the "chains" around the astronaut's neck are more likely jewelry or part of their clothing, not wires.
