The term “Kaaba” means "cube" in Arabic, aptly describing its cubic-like structure, albeit one that is taller than it is wide, standing at approximately 15 meters tall and 12 meters wide. Constructed from regularly shaped granite stones, the Kaaba has been traditionally held together with mortar, featuring a flat wooden roof that is covered in metal. Due to the rarity of rain in Mecca, flooding concerns led to the installation of a golden rain spout on the northwest side in the 1600s.
