Firefox Telemetry: Outdated but Revealing
Firefox’s telemetry data—despite being almost three and a half years old—provides a major reference point. In the last available snapshot from early 2022:
Over 90% of Linux Firefox users were running on X11.
The remaining users relied on XWayland (a compatibility layer), pushing the combined total for X11 over 92-94%.
